UPW Youth Leadership

The Foundation presented its first UPW Youth Leadership Program in Orlando, Florida in 2004. Hundreds of students, ages 14 through 17, have now walked on fire with a group of peers in this life changing program, learning the skills to lead in their own lives.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Basics:

What is the UPW Youth Leadership?

Unleash the Power Within (UPW) Youth Leadership is a four-day program held in conjunction with Tony Robbins UPW event. Youth ages 14-17 participate in UPW as a collective group with event-experienced Captains. UPW Youth Leadership takes place year-round in cities around the world.

The Specifics:

What age youth do you accept for UPW Youth Leadership?

We accept teens from 14-17 years-old that are in good academic standing, have completed 20 hours of community service and demonstrate leadership skills and/or a desire to grow those skills. See the next section for more specific application requirements.

What is the difference between UPW Youth Leadership and UPW?

Teens accepted into the UPW Youth Leadership program will join peers their own age and work together to process their learnings as a group with adult Captains.  These Captains are on-hand with the group to guide teens through the event. The group stays in the room for entirety of the greater UPW Event.

Do parents sit with teens as well?

No, teens participate with other peers and Captains during UPW. Each attendee’s Guardian is responsible for accommodations and transportation to and from the program each day. A guardian must be available and on call but is asked to refrain from checking during the program hours so the youth can “play full out”.

When is UPW Youth Leadership?

The Program takes place at nearly all Unleash the Power Within events but space is limited so be sure to apply early.

What are the times?

Times correspond to UPW event timing. Expect early mornings and late evenings each day. The times of UPW often go longer than what is on the event info sheet.

If I attended GYLS, can I also attend UPW Youth Leadership?

GYLS and UPW YL can be attended in any order as long as all the application requirements are met. UPW Youth Leadership cannot be attended more than one time.

How much does UPW Youth Leadership cost?

As a Youth Leader, your fee is $250 and includes event entrance, one meal each day, program materials and more.

What’s the difference between UPW Youth Leadership and Global Youth Leadership Summit?

Our UPW- Youth Leadership 3 1/2 day program held in conjunction with Tony Robbins’ live “Unleash the Power Within” events.  The Tony Robbins Foundation sponsors Youth between the ages of 14 and 17 years of age to attend and participate in the UPW event with a group of their peers along with Captains. The UPW event the youth are attending has an audience of adults and the content reflects that level of maturity.

Global Youth Leadership Summit is a four-day overnight program on a college campus designed for youth between the ages of 14 and 16.  It provides an immersive environment designed to boost summit participants into leadership roles that will change their lives and that of their community. The format includes small group discussions, hands-on service learning experiences, leadership simulation games and exercises. Dynamic keynote speakers from around the world present topics designed to enable summit participants to identify their own particular leadership strengths. At the conclusion of Global Youth Leadership Summit, participants are encouraged to identify personal goals and a commitment to community service.
